Finding Safety After Years of Fear

Names and identifying details withheld to protect identity. Story used with written consent.

After years of living with fear and uncertainty, one Jeffreys Bay mother reached out to On Eagles' Wings. Within days she had access to trauma counselling, legal guidance on obtaining a protection order, and a network of support she had never known existed. "I didn't know there was help available," she later shared. "Coming here changed everything for our family."

A Workshop That Changed a Young Man's Direction

Names and identifying details withheld. Story shared with permission.

In 2022, On Eagles' Wings participated in a mentorship workshop for young boys in Thornhill - providing food, facilitation, and life-skills content for a group of teenagers navigating difficult home environments. For several of the young men, it was their first experience of structured mentorship. Community leaders noted the visible impact on their engagement and sense of purpose.

Staying in School, Keeping Her Dignity

Names and identifying details withheld. Story shared with permission.

Period poverty is a reality for many girls in under-resourced communities across the Kouga region. Through our school outreach work, On Eagles' Wings provides menstrual health education and sanitary supplies to girls who would otherwise miss school or feel ashamed during their period. "When we came to her school, she had been absent for three days every month," a team member recalled. Through the programme, that changed. She has since taken on a mentorship role for younger learners in her school community.
